So here are my Tips on how to become a 'Great' Events Photographer
Plan ahead: Make sure to get all the necessary information about the event beforehand. This includes the location, time, expected number of guests, and any special requests from the client. This will help you to plan your equipment, settings, and approach accordingly.
Invest in the right equipment: A good camera and lenses are essential for event photography. Consider investing in high-quality equipment that can handle low-light situations and fast-moving subjects.
Be adaptable: Events can be unpredictable, so it's important to be adaptable and be able to change your approach on the fly. Be open to trying new angles, settings, and techniques to get the best shot.
Be mindful of your surroundings: When photographing an event, be aware of your surroundings and try to blend in as much as possible. Don't be disruptive and always be respectful of guests and their space.
Capture the details: While it's important to capture the big moments at an event, don't forget to capture the small details as well. This includes things like decorations, centerpieces, and other unique features of the event.
Be personable: As an event photographer, you'll be interacting with guests and clients throughout the event. Being personable and friendly can help put people at ease and create a more relaxed atmosphere.
Edit your photos carefully: Once the event is over, take the time to carefully edit your photos. This includes adjusting exposure, color, and contrast, as well as cropping and resizing as needed.
Deliver your photos promptly: Finally, make sure to deliver your photos to the client promptly. This shows that you're professional and reliable, and it helps the client to share and enjoy the memories of the event as soon as possible.
And Lastly wear something that will be appropriate for the Event. I saw a photographer at a Brad Pitt Red carpet event wearing shorts and Crocs with Socks. Make sure you check with the organiser of the Event what the dress code is!
By following these tips, you can become a great event photographer and capture stunning photos that will be cherished for years to come.
